We had the great, great privilege of being invited to a fiesta at this family´s church in Tierra Linda today. The mom is Santa, who we buy vegetables from in the market. She is 53, and has 12 children: the oldest is 30, and the youngest is 8 (she is Dorcas on the right). We teach one of her sons, Edgar, in our classes. All the kids have beautiful smiles and carry a confidence that seems rare with Mayan children, especially girls. We had a great time walking up the mountain and talking with them. It felt very special to share their daily commute.
