On our hike down the mountain trail at the end of the day, we stopped to chat with a group of Tierra Lindans who were bundling onions from their fields. Some have students in our class, kids who will read the books, and family members who have received glasses or medical help.
They insisted that each of us accept two bunches of onions. There are many places we've been in Guatemala that are take-take-take, and we consider Tierra Linda very different. There is a pride, an independence, and a friendship.

My goodness! Those are the biggest onions I have ever seen! What are you going to do with them all? It would be a shame to have them go to waste.
Those are the hugest green onions I have EVER seen!
those have the makings of a huge salad along with the lettuce you received. They are so lovely and big.
