I was waiting for my helper Vicente to meet me at the yellow bridge at 7 AM this morning, before our "commute" up to Tierra Linda on the trail.
The yellow bridge is a Panajachel landmark, and we've been told it was constructed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. It withstood the floodwaters of Hurricane Stan, and has become an encouragement for me. So many things are built half-way or mediocre in Guatemala, with the cheap method ensuring that the product will fall apart and need to be replaced several times. We hope that the things we do here are "quality", and withstand the test of time.
