Lucas' Lettuce

Melody and I walked down the mountain today, and Lucas saw us as we passed his lettuce field. He yelled for us to come over. He proudly showed us his new reading glasses in his pocket, and then asked us if we ate lettuce. He proceeded to cut us 2 heads of his lettuce as a thank-you, and refused to let us pay.

We walked on, and a little boy ran up to us with onions, as a gift from his mother - who has another son in our computer class.

Some days, lettuce and onions and thanks are the greatest wealth in the world.
