Armando built batteries out of lemons. Amazingly, he explained that if you connect them in series, five lemons produce as much energy as one AA battery. Harder to fit in a flashlight, however.
Armando won the Jack McGovern award for his contribution to the fair, named after a beloved teacher who recently passed away. All the fair participants had to create a website explaining their project, and Armando learned quickly. In fact, he learned so quickly that he ended up staying after school and helping many of the others with their sites. He may not build more lemon batteries, but he's discovered a new interest.
