We all agreed that this is impossible to capture in photos or video. It is a strenuous hike for most of the way, and then very difficult in the last 100 yards, since you are on loose lava rock. As we mentioned before, however, you can ride a horse all the way to the top, except for the last 100 yards.

Wow - you are definitely in Mordor, right? And Zane must be the little hobbit you picked up on the way?!

Looks like a great place for a wiener roast and toasted marshmallows.
The pictures make it look like we were standing right next to the lava, but the closest we went was 8 or 10 feet, and Dave even stayed further back with Zane because of the heat.
