The locals are savvy - they try to rent you a "taxi horse" at the bottom. If you don't bite, they follow you along the trail for the first while, hoping for stragglers to give in. It's a little like vultures...!

haha! that's great! That makes me think of when I was in Egypt, hiking Mt. Sinai, they follow you with camels for quite a while... Soon enough you are able to tune them out though! :)
