As we were walking through a back alley today we heard a loud machine noise. Dave poked his head in to check it out (as usual!), and we learned how they grind corn for their tortillas. They dump in the dried corn, and dribble water into it as it grinds, and the chickens on the floor eat up the crumbs! There was a lady buying a batch of the cornmeal to make tortillas at her tortillaria. It was kind of neat to see the inner workings of life here for a moment.

If you ever get good at making your own tortillas, can you teach me? I suck!
