Getting Settled in Panajachel

This is in our front yard. We're renting a house from a friend of a friend, and Zane loves being outside here. It's about 25 C during the day, and down to 12 C at night.

We are in our front yard with our new dog, "Perro". This is a deeply considered name, which means "dog" in Spanish. She adopted us, since she's a stray street dog. We like that she chases other dogs away, but we don't usually pet her, since she has fleas.

As usual, Zane is thrilled to find rocks in a gutter. Who needs toys? We're at Crossroads Cafe, enjoying a "cafe con leche" (coffee with milk).

Danaya is hanging our towels out to dry. You can see coffee bushes behind her. Our place is in the middle of a coffee plantation, and it's harvest time, so we picked a bit with our gardener/guardian Don Miguel. Ripe coffee berries are red, and need to be picked and dried in the sun. The berry is then opened, and the two beans are taken out and then roasted.

Okay, now i am actually quite envious. It sounds like a wonderful experience. I pray things continue to go well for you. It will be good to get into the school and start working with the students. It is good to get this on a Saturday night as you won't feel quite so absent in church tomorrow. Blessings to you all.

Great to hear from you, and see your new Guatemala community experiences through your eyes! (about the spider...maybe you could save it for our next Hallmark retreat?!)
I think its wonderful that a dog adopted you right off the bat. A kind of blessing. :) Danaya, do you use a scrub board to do laundry, or...? Praying for you all as you continue to track through the unknown.

Hope you guys are adjusting well
...and about that spider....I vote NO for the staff retreat :) Let's leave it where it came from!

Ok, I must be my father's daughter as I am equally envious and share his sentiments exactly! What an experience! We are missing you but are extremly happy that Zane is transitioning well and that you all look healthy and happy! God's peace.
